How Virtual Home-Viewings Are Revolutionising The Property Market

Virtual reality home-viewings are beginning to revolutionise the property market, thanks to the introduction of cutting edge technology.

Selected estate agents across the country are allowing home buyers to explore potential homes without having to step foot in them.

Thanks to virtual reality glasses, home buyers can ‘walk’ through homes they’re interested in, while sitting on their estate agent’s sofa.

The introduction of such technology is already starting to save buyers time and money, by ruling out the need to book out-of-office viewings and eliminating the need to travel.

Virtual reality headsets offer the most immersive and detailed experience, but it’s also possible for buyers to explore potential properties from the comfort of their own homes by manually clicking through a virtual space on their laptop or smartphone.

Not only can such technology make home viewings more convenient, they’re also a step up from traditional estate agents’ photos which may strategically capture the most beautiful side of a room while hiding flaws.

Property Technology expert James Dearsley said: “Property websites will become considerably more sophisticated, using big data to bring more and better properties in front of prospective buyers and taking over much of the traditional estate agent’s role.”

Talking about how such technology could change the market in the future, Dearsley added: “There will be no more ‘fifteen minute windows’ to view a property. Virtual reality will allow home buyers to view more homes, narrow down their choice and then ‘live’ in a virtual version for several days to truly try before they buy.”
